Hue Kitchen is a modest Vietnamese restaurant tucked into the busy neighborhood near N Euclid Street and Fifth Street in Santa Ana. The spot specializes in Central Vietnamese flavors, with a focus on bún bò Huế – a spicy beef noodle soup that tends to draw locals familiar with authentic Hue-style cooking. The dining area is cozy and unpretentious, fitting for a casual lunch or early dinner where the food takes center stage over ambiance.

Visitors typically find themselves gravitating toward the signature bún bò Huế, available with variations like thinly sliced beef or beef tongue, which adds a unique texture and depth. Alongside this, smaller dishes like bánh bèo (steamed rice cakes) and shrimp cake wrapped in banana leaf offer lighter bites to share or enjoy on their own. Traditional beverages such as sugarcane strawberry juice and iced tea provide simple but refreshing complements to the flavorful dishes.

The service experience is warm and straightforward, with friendly, attentive staff who add to the feeling of a family-run establishment. Despite occasional language differences, the atmosphere remains welcoming, especially for those who come knowing what to expect from authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The inclusion of a complimentary soybean dessert is a subtle touch that highlights their focus on hospitality.

Hue Kitchen is best suited for diners who appreciate traditional Central Vietnamese food and are comfortable seeking out neighborhood spots off the usual dining corridors. It tends to be a solid lunch option on weekdays when the kitchen is in full rhythm, or a casual spot for groups wanting to sample several dishes without pretense. The relaxed, no-fuss environment fits well with the modest, working-class surroundings of Santa Ana, making it a genuine local find for residents and visitors familiar with Vietnamese flavors beyond pho and banh mi.

This place bún bò Huế is legit. The banh beo is good too. They have option of bun Bo with just thinly sliced beef too. Must try !!!

The bun bo hue with the beef tongue was delicious! And the banh beo was amazing, everything here is flavorful. The sugarcane drink with coconut is really refreshing. Friendly servers and a free soybean dessert, I highly recommend the food here!

Located off Euclid Street near the corner of Fifth Street in Santa Ana, Hue Kitchen is a cozy Central Vietnamese eatery specializing in beef noodle soup (bun bo hue). We didn't try this delicacy because we wanted to sample their other menu options including appetizers, rice dishes and beverages. Although the staff appeared to speak limited English, they were friendly and more than capable of providing an enjoyable dining experience. I tried one of the Hue Style Steamed Rice Cakes with Shrimp (Banh Beo Khay Hue) that my family ordered and it was quite the medley of ingredients atop a rice cake. I recommend topping with the included fish sauce and chili sauce for extra flavor. I personally ordered the Rotisserie Chicken Rice w/ House Special Sauce (Com Ga Roti Dac Biet), and I appreciate how crispy the chicken skin was and how fragrant the rice was. They also include cucumbers and pickled cabbage for a more balanced meal. I washed everything down with a refreshing strawberry sugarcane juice. They also include complimentary coconut pudding for dessert...oh yeah!

Stopped by for lunch and loved it! We had a couple of appetizers and the bun bo hue and all were delicious. The hue food is very authentic. We loved that this was a small family owner business and the service was very good! :)

The bon Bo hue and bahn Cahn ARE SO GOOD. First time trying them, def much better than pho if you want authentic Vietnamese food. The free tofu pudding is a PLUS! Hidden gem!! Would come again.

If you’re craving the best Bún Bò Huế, look no further! Although it’s a tiny place, this spot serves an authentic bowl of this Vietnamese classic that’s absolutely bursting with flavor. Hands down one of the better Bún Bò Huế places I’ve had.
